Susan Harju is a self-taught embroiderer. Born in Fairmont, Minnesota, Susan tried her hand at many things in her life from traveling with her sister and daughter to photography to cooking. Susan got married in 1985 and moved with her daughter to Excelsoir, MN. Throughout her life, Susan developed an appreciation for items not always found in local retail stores. She would often find interesting items during her travels that made her home a very interesting place to visit as you just never knew what you would see next. One of her favorite items is a pillow from an antique store in Excelsior, Mn. On the front is an embroidered Lion. After many comments on it she decided to figure out how to make her own. This is where she discovered her career. Now Susan has a successful embroidery business in Excelsior MN. She has a wide range of regular clients from the Landscape company in town to the gift happy housewife two states away.
Susan is now a professional embroiderer full-time. She lives in Excelsior with her husband Gary and son Henry. When she is not busy with clients Susan enjoys searching for new embroidery designs and ideas and spending time with her 4 year old grandson Jack.
